We, all of us, are sustained in every moment by Aten, and in turn, we are sustained in each moment by the Son of Aten...Akhnaten.
In knowing we are sustained in every moment, that everything we have or do not have is the result of the Aten working through Akhnaten, we develop an innate spiritual poverty. In this spiritual poverty we live without expectation and we live in acceptance.
While we may have some idea what living without expectation means, how do we live in acceptance? Acceptance of what?
Everything, good, bad or neutral, all comes from the same source. Aten. It is is formed in our reality by Akhnaten. If we have something it is because Akhnaten decrees that this must be so. If we do not have something it is because Akhnaten decrees that this must be so.
Peace or conflict, ease or adversity, all are determined by Akhnaten and enacted in our lives.
As Atenists, we stand or fall in relation to our love and obedience to Akhnaten - to the extent we are obedient to Him, we are then obedient to Aten.
Akhnaten is the manifestation of the Will of the Compassionate God in our reality. The Will of Aten is known by and through Him.
We are in a moment to moment process of acceptance of the Will of Aten through Akhnaten. Acceptance of good, acceptance of difficulty, these are all from Akhnaten and it is our responsibility to receive whatever Akhnaten brings into our reality with complete acceptance.
Here is an example: Let's say you went to a merchant's stall and sought to purchase some bread. With the money you offer, you could expect to receive a week's worth of bread for your family. The merchant then hands you only enough bread to last you a single day.
What is your response? Do you argue with the merchant? Do you cause violence? Do you harbor resentment for not having enough?
While we strive to be compassionate and just with everyone, not everyone will be compassionate or just with us. And when confronted by this situation, we may think "This is not fair. I have worked hard for my money and this person has only given me a minor portion for my hard earned money".
What does the code of the Atenist call for? Acceptance of what Akhnaten brings into our reality: Good, Bad or Neutral.
When someone asks something of us, we give it because Akhnaten placed that person and that request in our reality. We do not expect to get anything back, because nothing was truly ours to begin with.
When someone takes something of ours, we simply let it go without seeking retribution or return because that person and that incident in our reality are because of Akhnaten.
We get so wrapped up in the day to day trials and tribulation of this world, that we forget that Aten is ever present through Akhnaten and we forget that Akhnaten is all knowing and all seeing and fully cognizant of our life condition in every moment.
Because of this, whether we sit in an opulent palace or a barely standing hut. Whether we have fineries or we are in tattered rags, whether we have access to delectable cuisine or only have a morsel of simple food. Whether we have love and companionship in our lives or we are subject to an environment of heartlessness and loneliness. In every situation, on every level, we are sustained by the compassion of Aten through the workings of Akhnaten.
If you didn't have another second of life left, then you would go to meet Akhnaten and the Compassionate God and have the opportunity to live forever in the Paradise Worlds.
What can we expect? Only that which Akhnaten grants us. Nothing more, nothing less.
What must we accept? Only that which Akhnaten offers us. Nothing more, nothing less.
